Why Whistler? Lots of Snow + World Ski & Snowboard Festival = Awesome

Here's a fun way to celebrate spring, why not drive up to Whistler BC and see what's happening at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival?

By complete happy accident, last year I was in Whistler enjoying some bargain spring skiing deals that happened to overlap with the opening weekend of this festival. I'll tell you what; Whistler Village was transformed from a slow place winding down from ski season into a fun party atmosphere that was also family friendly.

But World Ski and Snowboard Festival is not just for skiers and snowboarders. With live music concerts setup in the village and special events all around, there's something for just about anyone who just likes the combination of nature and fun people. And Whistler Blackcomb area has great mountain biking, zip line courses, bungee jumping, plus hiking and walking trails. Last year I did the Zipline Tour from EcoTrek and it was...well...um...flat out awesome.

But what about the drive?

Well, according to Google, you're looking at a little over 4 hours from Seattle, but I'd add in one more just for traffic. But part your drive is on the stunningly beautiful Sea to Sky Highway which is a very cool road to drive.

And where should I stay?

Another good question. The Whistler Blackcomb area has an interesting mix of lodging choices ranging from many hotels at varying price levels to home or condo Airbnb rentals.
